Dana Michelle Cook (she/her) is an Emmy and Gracie award-winning producer and documentary filmmaker, dedicated to shining light on issues that bring about social change. Over the past 15 years, Dana has worked in both Los Angeles and Chicago as a TV and film producer, creating scripted and unscripted original content for nonprofits, ad agencies, live events, and major networks such as ABC, NBC, Food Network, and Quibi. She just wrapped producing on tour with Oprah for her WW 2020 Vision Tour, spanning 9 cities over 9 weeks across the US. 

As a documentary filmmaker, Dana has served as co-creator and producer of the documentary The Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things, inspiring thousands of young women across the US to find their voices and become leaders of their lives. Traveling with the film on two national tours, she has sparked conversations at schools, women’s organizations, and corporations, sponsored by Nordstrom, American Girl, Microsoft and Charles Schwab. She has also been featured on Good Morning America, Forbes, and Marie Claire. The film has gone on to screen globally over 2,000 times in more than 20 countries including Russia, Haiti, New Zealand, and Brazil.

She currently serves as co-founder of Freeheart Creative and director of the documentary series, Seeing Brave created to shine light on global female leaders mobilizing communities in Kenya, Rwanda, Haiti, Syria, and beyond.

In addition to calling Chicago home, Dana has also lived in Spain and Argentina. A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara she has also worked at Fox Sports, MTV, Montecito Picture Company with director Ivan Reitman, and the boutique agency Creative Entertainment Services. There, she managed branded content for network shows and films for Warner Brothers, Disney, and Paramount Studios.
