Kaisa Kukkonen
Kaisa (she/they) is a dance artist, intimacy choreographer, teacher, and writer, whose work explores the poetics and politics of the body through movement, language, and relational practices. She holds an MFA in Performing Arts (Iceland University of the Arts, 2022) and a Dance Teacher degree from the MACoDE program in Frankfurt, where her thesis focused on power relations in teaching touch.
Her work centers on the choreography of intimacy—on stage, in participatory contexts, and behind the scenes. She engages with contact improvisation, pleasure activism, consent, and boundaries as artistic and social tools. Her practice spans immersive theatre, performance art, and audience participation, creating spaces for radical care, sensitivity, and shared authorship.
Kukkonen’s work includes performance-making, teaching, mentoring, writing, and community art. She was a founding member of pupu kollektiivi (active until 2023), where she explored queer feminist approaches to intimacy and embodiment, supported by the Kone Foundation. Since 2010, she has been active in the independent dance and performance scene across teaching, producing, and performing.
Kaisa is fluent in English, Finnish, and can also speak German.
