TARA LEIGH BURGAT

Tara (she/her) is a choreographer, director, movement specialist, and certified intimacy choreographer working within a variety of performance arts realms.

She holds degrees in Dance, Theatre, Leadership, and Design from the University of Kansas and was selected as part of the first cohort of industry professionals to be certified as an Intimacy Choreographer for Live Performance through Intimacy Professionals Association. She is also currently a Choreographic Artist in Residence with Charlotte Street Foundation. 

Tara is most interested in working with production teams that are enthusiastic about respect, storytelling, and teamwork. She is passionate about bridging between the stakes the production team is aiming to meet and allowing performers their whole sense of dignity within the creative process. She is often re-hired to production teams because of her professional, peaceful, and adaptable work style.

In all realms of work, she happily supports performers of all backgrounds and abilities. Having created, worked, and taught with adults for 15+ years, she specializes in movement coaching those with diverse skills ranging from novice-level to advanced.

Beyond her work, her greatest joys include her husband and imaginative children!
