WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

Visual effects are one of the most common tricks of the trade used in the film and TV industry, and as an intimacy coordinator you are bound to work on a scene with VFX at some point (if not many times!) in your career. Being able to work seamlessly with a crew using visual effects requires prior knowledge about how they work and how you as an IC can professionally and proficiently interface with the other departments. In this workshop, taught by the highly experienced intimacy coordinator Casey Hudecki, we will go over the foundations of VFX work in intimacy as well as some more advanced situations and how they can be handled with the utmost attention and care.

During this workshop we will discuss:

• the use of prosthetics and considerations for prep, post, and production

• what you need to know about VFX as an IC in prep, post, and production

• what kind of language is used in riders when VFX are at play

• how intimacy, VFX, and stunts can intersect and how to work with them

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Casey Hudecki has worked professionally for over twenty years in film, television, and theatre. She is a choreographer and educator and has worked in front and behind the camera as an actress, stunt performer, stunt coordinator, and intimacy coordinator. Casey is an IDC Certified Intimacy Coordinator and Director, a Partner at Intimacy Coordinators Canada until 2025, Director of Education at Contact Intimacy Collective, and has been at the forefront of establishing this role in the industry. Some intimacy coordinator credits include Sex/Life, The Boys, Infinity Pool, Gen V, American Gods, and The Handmaids Tale. Casey is a Fight Master with Fight Directors Canada, and is passionate about telling physical stories with safety, specificity and authenticity. Having performed on camera, both naked and on fire, Casey is aware of the vulnerability of these performances, as well as the collaboration and preparation that go into making a scene safe and successful.
